A new lens on existing accounts.

SIGNAL is a read-only archive explorer. Globe, Calendar, Timeline, and Archive explore the historical sighting CSV with shared filters. Documents is a separate government-metadata index with its own filters. Switching between them preserves each set of filters.

What you are viewing

Data handling

All 80,332 source rows are retained. Coordinates are screened for cross-country conflicts. Flagged and malformed positions are not plotted, but their reports and original coordinates remain in the archive. A coarse reference outline and 30 km border/coast tolerance are used; this is not city-level validation. Offshore/island points that the outline cannot confirm remain explicitly unconfirmed rather than being silently rejected. Blank shapes remain “Not supplied”, separate from reports explicitly labeled “Unknown”. The 694 timestamps written as 24:00 keep their original calendar date. Countries may be organized from explicit labels in the location text; the original fields and interpretation are visible in each report.

Comments are the CSV excerpts, not complete source reports. There are no individual case links or media in this upload. This integration does not establish permission for public republication; source rights remain to be checked before launch.

Government metadata in V4

The 36 uploaded NARA exports provide 10,657 unique catalog entries: 10,622 Blue Book file units and 35 other descriptions. Series-level counts describe holdings, not the number of child records loaded. The FAA export contains one collection description, not 575 individual PDF records. Metadata is indexed locally; original files remain at their source.

NARA records have not been added to sighting counts or map pins. No reviewed event coordinates were supplied. Catalog coverage, production, and inclusive dates retain their meaning and precision. The Documents month index never substitutes the first day of a month for an actual sighting day. One missing separator between two complete objects in the large Blue Book JSON was repaired in a working copy; all original uploads are unchanged.

What the archive does not establish

Report counts are not counts of confirmed phenomena. Separate accounts can describe the same incident. Approximate coordinates identify an area, not necessarily a witness's precise position. Missing dates and locations remain unknown.

Self-contained frontend. No logins, public submissions, uploads, tracking, or automatic external requests. Following a source or original-file link opens the external website; it requires internet access. No live API or synchronization is connected. Geographic outlines and land points derived from the public-domain Natural Earth low-resolution basemap. The basemap is illustrative, not a navigation or boundary reference.
